EnvironmentalEnvironmental Policy

Operating in the Pilbara comes with a responsibility. We work in a region of incredible natural value, and we take seriously the role we play in protecting it. At KAW, environmental responsibility is not an afterthought; it’s built into the way we design, fabricate, and deliver every project.

Our Commitments

  • We are committed to minimising impact. From energy use in our workshops to waste on site, we look for practical ways to reduce our footprint without compromising quality or safety.
  • We believe in using resources wisely. Steel, water, fuel, and power are never treated as unlimited. We apply lean practices and efficient planning to minimise waste.
  • We respect the Pilbara. We acknowledge the unique environment we work in and take steps to prevent pollution, manage emissions, and safeguard land and waterways.
  • We focus on continuous improvement. Compliance with environmental legislation and ISO standards is a baseline; we aim to go beyond, learning from every project to improve our performance.

How We Put It Into Practice

Waste management is a priority. Scrap steel is recycled, oils and chemicals are disposed of responsibly, and segregation systems are in place across our facilities.

Energy efficiency is built into our operations. Investment in modern machinery and smart scheduling reduces unnecessary consumption.

Local awareness is part of our culture. Working in Karratha means living in Karratha. Our people see the direct impact of industry on the community and environment, and we take pride in leaving things better than we found them.

Beyond Compliance

Policies and permits matter, but it’s the day-to-day choices of our team that protect the environment. Every employee has the right—and the expectation—to speak up if they see waste, risk, or unnecessary impact. Looking after the environment is part of looking after each other.
