Health and SafetyHealth and Safety Policy

At KAW, safety is not a box we tick - it’s the foundation of how we work every day across the Pilbara. Our commitment goes beyond compliance; it’s about making sure every person on our team, every contractor, and every visitor goes home safe, every time.

The Standards We Live By

We align our systems with recognised Australian and international standards, but our approach is practical and people-driven. Certification gives us structure, but it’s the behaviours and decisions of our people that make our safety culture real.

Our Safety Principles

  • Stop the Job – Everyone, from apprentice to manager, has the authority and responsibility to stop work if something doesn’t look safe. No questions asked, no penalties.
  • Never Assume – We challenge ourselves and each other to confirm, not guess. Clear communication prevents incidents.
  • Plan Before You Act – Whether in the workshop, on site, or in the office, we take the time to assess risks and set controls in place before work begins.
  • Look Out for Each Other – We believe mateship is a safety tool. Checking in, lending a hand, and speaking up keeps all of us stronger.

More Than Policies

Policies and procedures guide us, but our safety culture is built on accountability, respect, and shared responsibility. Safety is woven into inductions, toolbox talks, pre-starts, and project planning, but more importantly, it’s built into our mindset.
